Studio Policy

Parking

The studio is located at the end of a court.  Please park at an angle with your hood facing the sidewalk on the northwest side of the driveway. Please avoid parallel parking or parking in front of neighbors' homes as much as possible.  Please do not keep your engine running.  Parents are welcome to stay and quietly listen/take notes at private lessons.

Materials

Students should always bring all books and materials needed for the lesson each week.   Please gather materials ahead of time.  Putting those materials together at the last minute can result in something important being left at home.

Attendance Policy 2017-2018

No exceptions to these policies for ALL STUDENTS.  In order for the studio to run smoothly, very strict adherence to these policies are expected and full cooperation and commitment from both parents and students.

General Studio Policies, Consistent, and Prompt Attendance

Private Lessons, Studio Performance Classes, Formal Studio Recitals, Musicianship Classes, and Assessments are imperative for the pupil's success.

Student Studio Membership

Your tuition and registration provides studio membership for students in good standing.

BE ON TIME TO LESSONS AND EVENTS!!

Students MUST attend, participate, and ARRIVE EARLY to private lessons, recitals, studio performance classes, musicianship classes, etc.

What is the studio illness and emergency policy?

When a 24-hour cancelation has been received and illness or unusual circumstance (emergency) is the cause, a makeup will be scheduled by the conclusion of the semester at the teacher's discretion.

What is the policy for last minute cancelations or "no shows"?

PARENT WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE MISSED LESSONS WITH NO MAKEUP.

LAST MINUTE CANCELATIONS PREVENT OTHER STUDENTS FROM UTILIZING VALUABLE PRIVATE LESSON TIME

ABSOLUTELY NO MAKEUP PRIVATE LESSONS OF ANY KIND FOR CANCELATIONS WITHOUT ADVANCED NOTICE AND PRIOR APPROVAL

What is not an acceptable excuse for missing a private lesson, festival, studio class, assessment, or recital?

Forgetfulness: If more than one lesson, recital, studio class, etc. is missed due to forgetfulness or other "excuses", the student will be put on probation and potentially asked to leave the studio.

"I didn't have time to practice" isn't an acceptable excuse either.

What if the teacher cancels?

The teacher is responsible for arranging a makeup lesson at a later date.

What is the studio withdrawal policy?

ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND FOR EARLY WITHDRAWALS (TUITION, REGISTRATION, MATERIALS, ASSESSMENTS, FESTIVALS) FOR ANY AND ALL REASONS.

Parent is responsible for notifying the teacher 30 days or more prior to withdrawal.

Lesson Makeup Policy

ONLY ONE PRIVATE LESSON PER SEMESTER TOTAL will be made up at the teacher's discretion.

How do I cancel or reschedule a lesson?

Log onto the website with your username and password: then go to the lesson date on the calendar and right click, push cancel/reschedule.

What about personal conflicts during a scheduled private lesson?

Changes in schedules are a part of life.  However, they can become all consuming for me as I am asked constantly to switch lessons by parents.  If a student has a personal conflict on a lesson day that could not be avoided, parents should first contact me to see if I have any openings.  If there are no openings, parents should personally contact other students' parents with approximately the same lesson length to TRADE lesson times in advance.  Parent and student contact email address and phone numbers AND the private lesson schedule are available upon request.  If you do not TRADE LESSONS with another student, there are NO MAKEUPS for missed lessons due to a personal conflict or sports.  Parents will be charge for lessons missed due to gymnastics, swim team, basketball, lacross, football, baseball, soccer, birthday parties, theater rehearsals, team sports, chess, church, etc.

What is the studio vacation policy?

Teacher should be notified in advanced by at least TWO WEEKS prior to vacations.  Please cancel your lesson via the calendar on my website.

What is the policy for missing a Musicianship Class, Studio Performance Class, Recital, Assessment, or Exam?

No makeups are allowed for all reasons.

What happens when a student is put on probation?

Students that are not showing sufficient progress, obvious lack of concern, insufficient home practice, arriving tardy to lessons, classes or recitals, poor behavior, disrespectful behavior to the teacher, verbally abusive to other students, parents or students gossiping about other students or parents in the studio are subject to probation.  Once a student is put on probation, he/she has a period of time of less than 6 months to change and can be terminated at any time.  Parent will be responsible for 30 days of tuition following termination.
